OAKFIELD – Dale L. Drew, 86, of Oakfield died peacefully Feb. 27, 2015, in Patten. He was born November 18, 1928, in Oakfield, the son of Leo and Genevieve (Smart ) Drew.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army being stationed in Germany on the Iron Curtain during the Korean Conflict. He retired from the Maine Department of Transportation after 29 years.
Dale was an avid hunter and fisherman and spent time as a youth at Chamberlain and Webster Lakes fishing with his grandfather.
He is survived by two daughters, Rebecca Drew of Westbrook and Pamela and her husband, Kevin Nelson, of Oakfield; two grandchildren, Kevin Paul and Courtney and her husband, David Goodwin; four great-grandchildren, Kaden, Cota, Eli and Elijah; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; special friend, Randy Rockwell. He was predeceased by his wife, Rosemary (Crow) Drew.
Friends may call from 12 noon until 1 p.m. Wednesday at Bowers Funeral Home, Island Falls, with a funeral service being held at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Sterling Lawrence officiating. Spring interment will be in the Oakfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
