Mayne, Marilynn “Sue”, 78, March 3, 2015.
Marilynn, known as Sue to her high school classmates, passed away March 3, 2015. She was born in Dayton, Ohio, on July 21, 1936, to Charles and Lillian Terrell. Her family then moved to Tampa, FL, when she was 5 years of age. Raised in a musically talented family, Marilynn played many instruments to include the accordion, organ, piano, guitar, and drums. She later became a music instructor blessing others with her talents. Marilynn could be heard many Sundays as the organist at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.
Marilynn was a devoted military spouse who followed her husband, Keith H. Mayne, around the world to many exciting duty stations to include France and England. In 1967 they had a permanent change of station to Loring AFB. This Florida girl fell in love with the area along with her husband. They decided to retire here and call Caribou their home. She then became a passionate snowmobiler and took up racing and rallies. She won several events and filled the walls with trophies of her accomplishments. At Loring, she also became an accomplished bowler. Again, she showcased her competitive personality.
Once retiring from being a military spouse, Marilynn worked for the Sheriff’s office while attending Ricker College. She obtained her Master’s in accounting and numbers which, along with tax laws, would become her new passion. She then went to work for the Internal Revenue Service which would help her gain insight to the workings of the IRS. These experiences led her to owning her own business, Mayne’s Accounting Service. She enjoyed accounting and preparing taxes so much that she was still crunching numbers up to the day she passed.
Marilynn was an impressive person and passionate with any task she tackled. But what she enjoyed the most was being a wife, mom and a MeMe. She was predeceased by four or her children and her husband, Keith. However, she maintained her strength and graces for her other children. She led by example and loved unconditionally.
Marilynn is survived by her son, Welsie Daniel Mayne (Caribou) and his fiancée, Katelyn Orser. Also, her daughter, Kellie Sue (Mayne) Daugherty (Niceville, FL) and her husband, Ronald Daugherty. She was adored by her two granddaughters, Ellis Mayne Daugherty and Haley Cole Mayne.
In keeping with Marilynn’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. A private memorial will be held at a later date for family members.
