Mindy is a tiny underweight kitten who came to Halfway Home Pet Rescue starved to skin and bone with frostbitten ears, tail, nose and feet. President of the Halfway Home Pet Rescue Norma Milton said that Mindy is on medication for her painful ailments, but has started to eat a little on her own. Milton also mentioned that Mindy will lose about 2 inches of her tail and both ears close to the head while healing due to the frostbite; the injured cat’s nose and blistered feet are also healing slowly. “Mindy is extremely loving and grateful to the care she is receiving. She loves to be cuddled up in a blanket and just rocked while you scratch under her neck,” Milton said, adding that it will be many weeks yet before the four and a half month old cat is considered strong enough for spaying. Mindy is expected to be ready for adoption in two months or less. Volunteers with HHPR encourage people to provide immediate shelter and food for stray animals and then to transport the cats to an area shelter for protection. The Second Chance Thrift Store is having a “Season’s End Sale” with inexpensive clothing and coats, plus a large inventory of household goods. The shop is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday through Monday every week. FMI, call 999-1075.
