Stewart honored
PRESQUE ISLE — Attorney Harold “Hal” L. Stewart II of the Presque Isle law firm Stewart Law Office, a division of Marden, Dubord, Bernier & Stevens, PA, LLC, was inducted on Feb. 28 as a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, one of the premier legal associations in America.
Founded in 1950, the college is composed of the best of the trial bar from the United States and Canada. Fellowship in the college is extended by invitation only, and only after careful investigation, to those experienced trial lawyers who have mastered the art of advocacy and whose professional careers have been marked by the highest standards of ethical conduct, professionalism, civility and collegiality. Lawyers must have a minimum of 15 years’ trial experience before they can be considered for fellowship.
Membership in the college cannot exceed 1 percent of the total lawyer population in any state or province. There are currently approximately 5,860 members in the United States and Canada, including active fellows, emeritus fellows, judicial fellows (those who ascended to the bench after their induction) and honorary fellows. In Maine, there are only 25 fellows in the college.
“I am extremely honored to be invited to be a fellow of this prestigious national legal organization,” said Stewart.
Stewart is a partner in the firm Marden, Dubord, Bernier & Stevens, with offices in Waterville and Presque Isle, and has been practicing in Presque Isle for 27 years. He is a veteran of over 100 criminal and civil jury trials. He has completed the National Institute of Trial Advocacy, and further served as an instructor with the Maine Trial Lawyer College of Advocacy.
He has also served on the Maine Board of Overseers of the Bar’s Grievance Commission and currently is serving on the Governor’s Judicial Selection Committee. Stewart represents clients in civil and personal injury litigation cases throughout Maine.
