Hodgdon’s Fink receives MPA Principal’s Award

HODGDON, Maine — Ethan Fink, a senior at Hodgdon High School, has been selected to receive the 2015 Principal’s Award, Principal Mary Harbison recently announced. The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship.

Fink transferred to Hodgdon High School in late fall as a sophomore from Twin Valley High School in southeastern Pennsylvania.  Since moving to the area, he has completed many hours of volunteer work with Adopt-A-Block for Military Street Baptist Church. He is a member of the National Honor Society.
Fink has played varsity baseball all three years at Hodgdon and had previously run track and field in Pennsylvania.  Following in his father’s footsteps, he has enlisted as an infantry airborne paratrooper in the United States Army. He is currently a leader in his Law Enforcement Class at Region II School of Applied Technology.
Fink and Harbison, as well as other award winners and their principals, will attend an Honors Luncheon at the Spectacular Event Center in Bangor on Saturday, April 11, at 12:30 p.m.
The Honors Luncheon recognizes these outstanding students with the presentation of an individual plaque and the awarding of five $1,000 scholarships in the names of Horace O. McGowan and Richard W. Tyler.  Mr. McGowan and Mr. Tyler were former Maine principals and executive directors of the Association.  This year an additional five $1,000 scholarships will be presented through the efforts of the MPA Scholarship Golf Tournament.
The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 100 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association which represents Maine’s school administrators.
