Houlton Rec spring vacation programs

The Houlton Recreation Department will be offering the following programs in April.
Junior High Dance — On Friday, April 10, the Houlton Rec Center will host a junior high dance from 7-10 p.m. Youth in grades 7, 8 and 9 only are invited to this dance. Cost for the dance is $5 per student and music will by KC & Company. All proceeds will go toward the Community Playground Project.

Musical Theater Camp — The Spring Musical Theater Camp to celebrate Earth Day 2015 will have opportunities for solo singing and dancing. Musical talents will highlight this fun production about nature and the world. Camp will be held on Monday, April 20, through Thursday, April 23, from 9 a.m. to noon each day. Youth must be in grades 2-6 to be part of the camp. A performance for family and friends will be held on the last day of camp at 11:30 a.m. Cost for the camp is $45 per child and there must be a minimum of 10 /maximum of 20 to run the camp. Vacation Fun Days — This program will be held on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, April 21-23, from 9-11 a.m. at the Rec Center. Each day will be filled with games, contests and crafts. Children in grades preK-6 are invited to sign up. Cost is $5 per day per child. Registration is required with a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 24 children per day. Red Cross Babysitters Course — On Friday, April 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., youth between the ages of 11-15 years can be certified in this Red Cross course. Cost for this course is $50 and this class is limited to the first 12 students to register. There must be six participants to offer the class. Participants must bring their own lunch and drink this day. Here is a great opportunity to get the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to take care of infants and children. April vacation gym and game room — The final week for the open gym and game room for this season will be held Monday, April 20 – Sunday, April 26. The gym and game room will be open each day from 1-4 p.m. to Houlton area youth. The facility has a gym, pool tables, ping pong tables, bubble hockey, air hockey, foosball, and many board games. Youth must be in grades 2-12 to attend these open times. If younger, must be accompanied by an adult. For more information, contact the Houlton Parks and Recreation Department at 532-1310.
Youth Indoor Soccer — A new session of Youth Indoor Soccer will begin on April 29. Each program will run for six weeks and be held at the Houlton Recreation Center. Grades K-1 will be held each Wednesday at 4 p.m. Cost for this session for this age group will be $25 for Houlton residents and $35 for non-Houlton residents.
Grades 2-3 will be held each Wednesdays at 5 p.m. and each Thursday at 4 p.m., while grades 4-5 will be held each Wednesday at 6 p.m. and each Thursday at 5 p.m. Cost for this session for these age groups will be $35 for Houlton residents and $45 for non-Houlton residents. Each session will be instructed by Tim Tweedie and the Houlton Recreation staff. Registrations will be accepted until April 15. Youth should wear sneakers, comfortable clothes and bring a water bottle and soccer ball. To register, call 532-1310.
