Editor’s Note: An arrest or summons does not constitute a finding of guilt. An individual charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at criminal proceedings.
The Maine State Police Troop F barracks in Houlton responded to the following incidences from Sunday, March 23 to Saturday, March 28.
Sunday, March 22
    • Trooper Flynn responded to a residence on US 1 in Cary Plantation to a report of a male subject that went off the road into the complainant’s driveway and she believed him to be intoxicated. Tr. Flynn found a 65-year-old Hodgdon man in his GMC Jimmy attempting to get himself unstuck from the snowbank.

The man stated that he pulled into the driveway believing this was his home. He drove within 2 feet of striking the residence and then struck a tree, tearing off a portion of the left rear quarter panel as he attempted to turn around. The man was less than cooperative and seemed incoherent at times. He was arrested for operating under the influence and transported to the Aroostook County Jail.
    • Trooper Stoutamyer investigated a report of a possible protection order violation in Mars Hill. A female had gotten an order against an ex-boyfriend, but he continued to attempt to contact her through text and phone calls. The male was located in Linneus by Trooper Sylvia and summonsed for the violation. The male again violated the order over the following days by trying to call her at work and an arrest warrant is being sought since the male claims he is now out of state and not sure when he will return.
Wednesday, March 25
    • Trooper Quint responded to a report of an erratic operator in Cary Plantation. Prior to arriving, the vehicle stopped and was boxed in by other motorists so that it wouldn’t leave the area prior to Trooper Quint’s arrival. After investigation, Quint arrested the female operator for OUI and transported her to Aroostook County Jail. Det. Clark assisted on the case.
    • Trooper Darcy charged a male from New Brunswick for operating after suspension as the result of a traffic stop on I-95 in New Limerick.
Thursday, March 26
    • Trooper Bell and Sgt. Harris taught a class to Border Patrol Agents from the Houlton Sector. Three separate sessions were held throughout the week.
Friday, March 27
    • Trooper Saucier investigated a theft of gasoline from a residence in Sherman. The offender is known and the investigation is ongoing.
    • Trooper Bell and Trooper Darcy took part in The 2015 Interstate 95 Challenge. The troopers were able to work nine total hours monitoring I-95 and stopped a total of 19 vehicles. A total of 22 violations were found with some of the more serious violations being speeding, distracted driving and failing to move over for a stopped emergency vehicle.
    • Trooper Darcy observed a vehicle parked in a gas station in Oakfield. Trooper Darcy recognized the male passenger and was aware that he had an active warrant and had been out of the area for the past seven months. Trooper Darcy arrested the male without incident.
Saturday, March 28
    • Troopers Saucier and Sylvia and Sgt. Haines conducted traffic enforcement on the Interstate as part of the 2015 Drive to Save Lives Campaign. As a result, a Fort Kent man was summonsed for operating with an expired license and 16 motorists were stopped for speed.
    • Trooper Quint and Trooper Darcy were on the side of the road in Bridgewater talking and Trooper Quint still had his emergency lights on from a traffic stop he had just completed. They noticed a vehicle approaching and saw fireworks going off in the roadway. Trooper Quint stopped the vehicle and after investigation, determined that a male passenger had thrown the fireworks out the window. Trooper Quint summonsed the male passenger for criminal use of explosives and littering. The occupants of the car admitted that they had seen Trooper Quint’s emergency lights prior to throwing the firework out the window.
