After 13 years at Northern Maine Development Commission, Mike Eisensmith, director of regional planning, has retired. His last day was Thursday, April 2.

NMDC officials said Eisensmith was instrumental in the Mobilize Northern Maine asset-based strategic planning process utilized by the Aroostook Partnership for Progress. He was also an important part of the various APP working groups, including the Diversified Agriculture Working Group, and one of his final duties was to facilitate the April meeting of that group.
His last week at the commission also involved completion of the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) for Aroostook and Washington counties.
Colleagues held a going-away luncheon for him, and presented him with the gift of a handcrafted Amish rocker, said Jon Gulliver, NMDC’s director of investor and community relations.
Eisensmith lives in Fort Fairfield and also has a home in Eliot.
