To the editor:
We have all experienced the three ugly step-sisters, “Coulda, Woulda and Shoulda,” at some point in our lives, but last Tuesday evening local business operators Chris Richards and Judy Drombroski, their employees and local residents stepped up and said “Not in our house,” strong-arming the three nags, replacing them with community, caring and compassion.
During the recent benefit I watched as area businessmen, salesmen, farmers, contractors (naming only a few) took food orders, prepared beverages and encouraged the sale of raffle tickets, as others in attendance competitively bid on auction items. The end result, raising funds in order to assist an employee currently facing considerable medical expenses.
The atmosphere was full of energy, music, conversation and laughter as a continuous stream of individuals, some friends and some strangers, participated in this event, proving that people in this community care, are anxious to do what they can to support another and accept the challenge with humbleness and considerable generosity.
To Chris and Judy, to those who wore a different hat on that day, to the regular Par and Grill wait-staff, bartenders and cooks, who shadowed their celebrity counterparts and to all those who donated to help make this event a success , thank you for strengthening the pride in this city that many of us still believe in and to Glenda — endless positive and caring thoughts to you during this journey.
