Another group of future readers has graduated from the “Babies and Books” program at the Caribou Public Library. Pictured above are graduate Tevny Rose Germain with her mom, Cassie Germain, and Youth Services Librarian Katherine Wilcox Bosse. Also graduating the program were Miya Lynn Cyr, Payton Marie Patterson and Jaylynn McBrearity. The Babies and Books program, aimed at promoting literacy by giving children a head start with books, was founded in 2000 by Children’s Librarian Jean Shaw, Friends of the Caribou Public Library and Cary Medical Center. Children born at Cary Medical Center receive an invitation to visit the Caribou Public Library, and on their first visit children will receive their own library card, a board book and an activity packet. Children are also invited to attend year-round programming.
