Fort Fairfield senior earns MPA award

FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine — Megan Jellison, a senior at Fort Fairfield Middle-High School, has been selected to receive the 2015 Principal’s Award. Sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, the award is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship.

Throughout her seven years at Fort Fairfield Middle-High School, Jellison has distinguished herself not only in the classroom, but also as a leader on the playing field and student government.
“Megan is the type of individual who takes all aspects of her education to heart and is a joy to teach and coach,” said Principal John Kaleta. “The entire staff feels that she very much deserves this recognition!”
Jellison, Kaleta and other award winners and their principals will attend an Honors Luncheon Saturday, April 11 at the Spectacular Event Center in Bangor.
The Honors Luncheon recognizes these outstanding students with the presentation of an individual plaque and the awarding of five $1,000 scholarships in the names of Horace O. McGowan and Richard W. Tyler, both former Maine principals and executive directors of the Association. This year an additional five $1,000 scholarships will be presented through the efforts of the MPA Scholarship Golf Tournament.
The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 100 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association that represents Maine’s school administrators.
