Houlton’s Kyle Bouchard has finished his high school basketball career being named to the 60th annual Bangor Daily News All-Maine Boys First Team.
Joining Bouchard on the First Team are Messalonskee’s Nick Mayo, Hampden Academy’s Nick Gilpin, Falmouth’s Jack Simonds and Portland’s Stephen Alex.

Second-team honorees are Justin Martin of Winslow, Kevin Weisser of Windham, Ben Malloy of Bonny Eagle of Standish, Nicholas DePatsy of Medomak Valley of Waldoboro and Ian Mileikis of Edward Little of Auburn.
The Third Team is comprised of Andrew Fleming of Oxford Hills of South Paris, Riley Robinson of Dirigo of Dixfield, Eric Hoogterp of Old Town, Brendan McIntyre of Hampden and Shyheim Ulrickson of Mount Ararat of Topsham.
The team is selected through voting by coaches, administrators, media and other observers.
Bouchard, Maine’s 2015 Mr. Basketball, earned BDN All-Maine accolades for the third year after a senior campaign that epitomized his career at Houlton.
The 6-5 forward led the Shiretowners in points and assists for four consecutive seasons while propelling coach Rob Moran’s club to the 2014 Class C state championship and three Eastern Maine final appearances. Bouchard posted career totals of 1,815 points, 725 rebounds and 326 assists.
“He not only was a complete stat-sheet person, he also was a great defender,” said Houlton coach Rob Moran.
Bouchard will continue his basketball career at Division II Bentley University.
Gilpin’s expanded role helped Hampden win its second Class A state title in three years.
Gilpin is the son of Carol Bubar Gilpin and the late Peter Gilpin, formerly of Houlton/Hodgdon.
The first-team KVAC all-star led Hampden in scoring, rebounds and assists while shooting 83 percent from the free-throw line,
“The thing that’s unique about Nick is that he can dominate a basketball game while taking just 10 or 12 shots,” said Hampden coach Russ Bartlett of the 6-3 junior guard. “He’s worth 30 to 35 points a game between his points and the points he creates for us.”
