     SANDSTROM, Carl “Buddy”, 87, STOCKHOLM, April 5, 2015. A memorial service will be announced at a later date this summer. Arrangements are under the care of Lancaster-Morgan Funeral Home, Caribou.

    STOCKHOLM – Carl (Buddy) Sandstrom, 87, died peacefully on April 5, 2015, at home surrounded by the love of his family. He was born in Stockholm on December 18, 1927. He was the oldest son of seven children born to Fred and Lillian (Oberg) Sandstrom.
    He attended Stockholm schools until he was needed at home to work on the family farm. Throughout his life, Buddy had worked as a farmer, mechanic, woodsman and a dairy farmer. He had a special love of animals and was often called upon to shoe a horse, to assist in the delivery of a calf, or to help any animal in distress.
    He married Birdina Olivenbaum on November 14, 1949, and had been married for 65 years. They had four children. He had been a lifelong resident of Stockholm and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
    He is survived by his wife, Birdie; his children, Cindy and husband, Roger Darrieulat, of El Cajon, CA, Kristi Kelley of Presque Isle, Jean and husband, Dale Wight, of New Sweden, and Bruce and wife, Connie Sandstrom, of Presque Isle. He has seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Norma Sund of Stockholm; and a brother, John Sandstrom of Burlington, CT.
    He was predeceased by his twin sisters, Lillian Currie and Vivian Merritt; brothers, Jerry Sandstrom and Fred Sandstrom; and two grandsons, Adam Wight and Carl Darrieulat.
    A memorial service will be announced at a later date this summer.
