EATON – Lucille Addie Neal, 87, passed away April 7, 2015. She was born October 9, 1927, at Danforth, the daughter of Eugene and Addie (Dunlap) Cowan.
Lucille married the love of her life, Randall Neal, in January 1945. They worked side by side raising their family and running the general store in Eaton. Through Mummer’s life, which had many challenges and losses, she always found peace and love in nature. Her enthusiasm of sharing her experiences and knowledge of birds, animals, flowers, the stars and moon will bring great comfort to many as well as her favorite saying, “The sun is shining,” will never be forgotten.
Lucille is survived by her daughters, Gayle Randa Thornton and her husband, Philip, of Millinocket, Elizabeth Lynn Neal and her friend, Douglas, of Houlton; her son, John Wesley Neal of Eaton, who always brought her fresh-picked flowers – whether they were black eyed Susans or burdocks, they brightened her days; grandchildren, Missy Wedge and her husband, Will, of Glenburn, Nikki Ledbetter and her husband, Donnie of Buxton, Ryan Bartlett of Orient, Alana Thornton and her husband, Derek Karolak, of Casco, Randi Neal of Portland, Justin Neal of Old Town, Marcus Neal of Hodgdon; great-grandchildren, “Embily” and “Abbily” Wedge, Will and Neve Ledbetter, Gavin Barlett; Mummer’s boys, Brent, her faithful Sunday visitor, Pat the pie maker, and Tony the grounds keeper. She was predeceased by her husband, Randall; her sons, Mark and Galen; and her daughter, Janice.
At Lucille’s request, there will be a private graveside service at a later date. Gifts may be made in Lucille’s memory by planting a flower, smiling because the sun is shining or by enjoying the simple things Nature gives us each and every day. Online condolences and guest book: dunnfuneral.com.
