University of Maine at Presque Isle freshman pitcher Matt Curry of Caribou has been awarded the Association of Division III Independents Baseball Player of the Week for the week ending March 29.
Curry threw a complete game shutout against Gallaudet University in his only appearance on the mound this week. The freshman allowed just three hits, struck out eight and only walked one in the victory, pounding the strike zone with 57 strikes in his 84 pitches.
Curry also added a hit and run scored in three at bats in the 3-0 victory.
