National Honor Society
Service projects add up

WASHBURN, Maine — As vice president of the Washburn National Honor Society chapter, I can say it is a privilege to be part of this charitable organization. National Honor Society is about serving the common good and developing yourself. Our members are dedicated to helping Aroostook County. Being united with a group of fellow students who work together to make a difference is amazing.
National Honor Society is so important to the community. As a small NHS chapter, we aren’t always able to perform grand service projects. However, all of our small service projects add up. We’re always ready to serve, which is something the town is really proud of. Whether we are stacking wood or organizing books at the town library, both young and old feel the impact.
National Honor Society is also valuable to Washburn High School. NHS inspires students to volunteer and help the community. We’ve hosted food drives, coin drives and toy drives, and it’s impressive how many students are eager to contribute.
When I think about the past two years, I am extremely proud of what we’ve accomplished and what the Washburn National Honor Society will continue to do in the future. Washburn’s National Honor Society is united in making our high school and community a better place. As the end of the school year is approaching, I am sad to leave this wonderful group. But I know they will continue to serve the community and make a difference.
