Early Literacy: Every child ready to read

Preschool teachers, child care providers, librarians and representatives from other organizations serving children are invited to a free training at the Cary Library focused on techniques to prepare infants to children 5 years of age for school.

Cary Library will host Shannon Schinagl, Maine State Library’s Emergent/Family Literacy and Children’s Services consultant who will discuss brain development and outline six early literacy skills as they apply to children ranging from infants to preschool in age.
The event will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, May 4 at the Cary Library. Although there is no cost to attend the class, registration is required. For more information and to reserve a spot please call 532-1302. This program will provide a certificate for CEUs.
