‘Savvy Caregiver’ course in Hodgdon

An upcoming course in Hodgdon, beginning today, April 22, aims to educate and support those caring for someone with dementia.

Savvy Caregiver, a proven educational program for families and friends caring for someone with memory loss, dementia, or Alzheimer’s disease, is now available free of cost. The class will be held at the Hodgdon Fire Department from 10 a.m.-12 noon for six weekly sessions, beginning Wednesday, April 22.
Participants will learn what dementia is, how it affects people’s behavior, and how to manage this incurable, life-altering medical condition. Tips and strategies will be given for interacting and communicating with patients, learning how to manage challenging behaviors, and learning how to care for oneself as well.
