CARIBOU – John L. Tardif, 77, died April 13, 2015, in Caribou. He was born in Van Buren June 18, 1937, the son of the late Joseph and Bernice (Belanger) Tardif.
He was a graduate of Van Buren High School and served with the U.S. Army. Mr. Tardif was employed as a machinist at Pratt and Whitney in Connecticut for many years. He was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church as well as the Henry B. Pratt Post 15 American Legion.
He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law; Scott and Alicia Tardif and their daughter, Deanna, of Connecticut and Shawn Tardif, his fiancée, Joni, and their son, Hayden, of Eagle Lake; five brothers and four sisters-in-law, Rudolph and Vivian Tardif and Roderick and Nicole Tardif, all of Connecticut, Gene and Nancy Tardif of Presque Isle, William Tardif of Connecticut, and Daniel and Verna Tardif of Florida; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Viola Cummings Sirois of Caribou, Ann Marie and Fern Bouchard of Connecticut, and Nancy and David Holabird of Caribou; the mother of his sons, Betty Furlong Tardif of Eagle Lake; many nieces and nephews. Mr Tardif was predeceased by two sisters, Muriel Lebel and Connie LaRosa, and a brother, Leo.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday April 18, 2015, from the Parish of the Precious Blood, Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Interment will be in the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery. Arrangements by the Mockler Funeral Home, Caribou. www.mocklerfuneral home.com.
