The Caribou Vikings were beaten twice by the Old Town Coyotes at home Saturday in a rematch of last spring’s Eastern Maine Class B title game, won by Caribou.
The Vikes are now 2-3 heading into action this week. Summaries from last week follow:
Fort Kent 10, Washburn 1 — The Warriors had three pitchers combine on the three-hitter Monday at home against the Beavers.
Anthony Desjardin, Trevor Carter and Brandon Theriault combined for five strikeouts.
Alex Pelletier drove in Jarrett Olson in the second inning for Washburn’s lone run.
Fort Fairfield 14, Wisdom 7 — Carter Bruce struck out eight batters to key the Tigers’ victory at St. Agatha Monday.
The Tigers scored five times in the fifth inning and added five more runs in the sixth to break open a close game.
Old Town 12 at Caribou 2 — The Coyotes’ Eric Hoogterp struck out nine while giving up just two hits and two walks in the win over the Vikings Saturday in the first game of the doubleheader played at Caribou..
Old Town 11 at Caribou 1 — Tyler Byther tossed a two-hitter as the Coyotes took the second game of the doubleheader and remained undefeated.
Caribou 7, Houlton 4 — At Houlton last Wednesday, Dustin Bouchard and Camden Huck each scored two runs to pace the Vikings. Justin Ouellette and Gunnar Bondeson did the pitching for Caribou.
Ryan Dee and Jake Drew both had two hits for the Shiretowners.
Hodgdon 4, Washburn 2 — Blake Woods scored two runs to pace the Hawks to victory at home last Tuesday. Sam Horton and Dillan Buzzell combined to pitch seven strong innings for Hodgdon.
For Washburn, Alex Pelletier and Caleb Thompson each scored runs. Pelletier took the loss on the mound.
Limestone-MSSM 10, Wisdom 9 — The Eagles needed to come from behind to pick up the win in their regular season debut last Tuesday.
Freshman Matthew Pelkey went 2 for 4 with two RBIs, including the game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the seventh.
Senior Sam Kupiec went 2 for 4 and had three RBIs to pace the offense. Kupiec struck out six batters while surrendering four runs. Gordon McCulloh earned the win in relief.
