PI baseball wins 2 of 3, Fort prevails
The Wildcat baseball team used a balance offensive attack to defeat MDI in the second game of a doubleheader Saturday. PI ran its record to 2-3.
Carter Bruce pitched Fort Fairfield past Wisdom in other recent action.
Fort Kent 10, Washburn 1 — The Warriors had three pitchers combine on the three-hitter Monday at home against the Beavers.
Anthony Desjardin, Trevor Carter and Brandon Theriault combined for five strikeouts.
Alex Pelletier drove in Jarrett Olson in the second inning for Washburn’s lone run.
Fort Fairfield 14, Wisdom 7 — Carter Bruce struck out eight batters to key the Tigers’ victory at St. Agatha Monday.
The Tigers scored five times in the fifth inning and added five more runs in the sixth to break open a close game.
Mount Desert Island 2 Presque Isle 1 — The first game of Saturday’s doubleheader was a pitcher’s duel with the Trojans’ Seth Young throwing a complete game, allowing one run on four hits and striking out 11 batters in the win.
Presque Isle’s Ben Buckley also had a strong performance, tossing a complete game in the defeat. MDI scored the tie-breaking run with two outs in the bottom of the seventh.
Presque Isle 8, Mount Desert Island 3 — PI scored seven of its runs in the third and fourth innings to gain the split.
Caleb Nadeau, Andrew Paterson, Ben Buckley, Sam Gray, Kyle Rider, Cooper Madore and Christian Nantz all had hits for Presque Isle. Paterson went the distance on the mound, allowing three runs on seven hits.
Ashland 9, Hodgdon 7 — At Ashland Friday, Cody Blair pitched seven innings and helped his own cause by collecting two singles, walking once and scoring three times to lead the Hornets past Hodgdon.
Kyle Beaulier reached base safely four times and scored three runs as well.
Presque Isle 20, Fort Kent 4 — Paterson hit a double, drew three walks and scored four runs to propel the Wildcats to home victory Thursday.
Buckley, Gray, Nick Bartlett and Jake Carter each had two hits for PI, which scored 14 first-inning runs. Five pitchers combined to give up three hits, three walks and two earned runs for Presque Isle.
Hodgdon 4, Washburn 2 — Blake Woods scored two runs to pace the Hawks to victory at home last Tuesday. Sam Horton and Dillan Buzzell combined to pitch seven strong innings for Hodgdon.
For Washburn, Alex Pelletier and Caleb Thompson each scored runs. Pelletier took the loss on the mound.
