Crash claims life of local man
PERHAM, Maine — A local man died as the result of an accident late Thursday night, as he traveled the High Meadow Road.
“On May 6, 2015 at approximately 10 p.m., state police responded to a single-vehicle crash on the High Meadow Road in Perham. A passing motorist reported that a pick-up truck had crashed, and it appeared that the operator was deceased,” said Trooper Chuck Michaud, of the Maine State Police.
Caribou Fire & Ambulance responded and confirmed the male operator was deceased.
“Investigation disclosed that 40-year-old Mark Skidgel, of Perham, had been traveling east on High Meadow Road when his 1998 Dodge Dakota drifted off the roadway, struck a culvert, rolled over and then came to rest on its side,” said Michaud. “Mr. Skidgel was not wearing a seatbelt and was partially ejected from the vehicle.”
Michaud said the cause of the crash has yet to be determined and the accident remains under investigation.
Trooper Travis Luce is the lead investigator. He was assisted at the scene by Troopers Hafford, Stoutamyer and Michaud.
