At the Dream Theatre — On Thursday and Friday evenings, Tommy Towle’s Bachelor Club in a refined minstrel sketch that has attracted large audiences at every showing. On Thursday afternoon, there will be shown a reel of pictures showing the growth and development of the telephone.
Monument dedication — Dedication of the monument erected by the Spanish American War veterans on which there are two plates made from metal taken from the battleship Maine sunk in Havana harbor in 1898, will take place at Monday next at Monument Park.

Award-winning typists — In typewriting, the following Houlton High School seniors received a Gold Certified Typist pin for typing 50 to 60 words per minute: Barbara Bell, Madeline Brewer, Gloria DeVine, Thelma Gartley, Geraldine Kearney, Phyllis McCormack, Vivian Varney, and Marguerite Watson.
War propaganda — The Houlton Chamber of Commerce is in receipt of a most extraordinary document: a paper-bound book weighing one pound and containing 259 pages titled “Polish Acts of Atrocity Against the German Minority in Poland,” issued from the German Library of Information in NYC.

Crowds attend car giveaway — Cars began to assemble in the Sampson’s parking lot Saturday well in advance of the 3 p.m. drawing for a new 1965 Chevrolet. Shortly after 2:30, traffic in the Houlton downtown was almost at a standstill. Richard Van Tasel of Riverside Street was the lucky winner.

JUNIORS TO GIVE MONOLOGUES — The Junior Class at Houlton High School will present a program called As the Twig is Bent at the junior high auditorium with the girls to present monologues. Historic court and jail — Houlton’s stately Superior Court building and adjoining County Jail have been officially entered into the National Register of Historic Places. County Commission Chair Norman Fournier presented a plaque to Sheriff Edgar Wheeler; Wesley Adams, building supervisor; Register of Probate James Briggs, Register of Deeds Evelyn Dow and EMA Director Robert Jones.
Television Blackout Day — The SAD 29 Wellness Team is sponsoring a television blackout day for the school district, grades K-8. The team has set May 23 as the day students will be asked not to watch television.
