CARIBOU, Maine — A two-vehicle accident Monday left two women with minor injuries and both vehicles heavily damaged.
The crash occurred shortly after 11 a.m. Monday at the intersection of Main Street and Hatch Drive.

According to Caribou Police Officer Kevin St. Peter, Wafaa Sleem, 54, of Caribou, was eastbound on Hatch Drive in a 2015 Subaru. She intended to cross Main Street onto Water Street. Clarann Floyd, 46, of Caribou, was northbound on Main Street in a 2014 Jeep approaching the Hatch Drive intersection. Floyd had her 20-year-old son with her. Sleem failed to yield the right-of-way to Floyd and struck Floyd’s vehicle. Airbags were deployed in both vehicles.
St. Peter said Tuesday the women’s injuries were non-life-threatening. Both Sleem and Floyd were complaining of minor pain at the scene.
Police reports state both sought treatment at Cary Medical Center, with Sleem transported by Caribou Fire & Ambulance and Floyd by private vehicle.
Both vehicles sustained severe damage to their front ends, said St. Peter. No charges are expected to be filed at this time.
