NEW SWEDEN – Frances M. Nelson, 95, passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2015, at a Van Buren Nursing Facility. She was born in New Sweden on November 4, 1919, the daughter of Frank and Elvira (Olson) Nelson.
Frances attended Jemtland grade school and was a graduate of Caribou High School in 1938. After her marriage to Ralph, they lived on the farm of Westmanland, where they raised three sons. When her grandchildren came along, they always called her GUCKY.
Frances is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Melvin and Loretta Nelson of New Sweden, and Warren and Jane Nelson of Millinocket; three grandchildren, Neil of Westmanland, Nikki of New Sweden, and Johannah and her husband, Brian Sirois of Old Town; two great-grandchildren, Emma and Alyx; and a special sister-in-law, Mary Nelson of MA. She will also be missed by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Frances was predeceased by her husband, Ralph; son, Ronald; her brother, Lawrence; and a sister, Thelma.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., on May 23, 2015, at West Jemtland Cemetery in New Sweden, Chris Drew officiating. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.lancastermorgan.com.
