Police dog receives safety vest
PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Safety is vitally important to all law enforcement officers, including the four-legged kind, so the Presque Isle Police Department’s recent receipt of a safety vest will provide K9 Koda with an added layer of protection when out on patrol.
“The department’s K9, Koda, has been awarded a ballistic vest thanks to a non-profit organization, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., with Blue Line Across America providing $950 for the vest,” said Chief Matt Irwin, of the PIPD, in a post of the agency’s Facebook page.
Irwin said the vest will be embroidered with the sentiment “protected by Blue Line Across America.”
Koda has been with the department over a year now. He’s been instrumental in several investigations.
“Koda, who completed his patrol school with Officer Kevin Reed last year, will be attending drug detection school this fall. He has several apprehensions in his short career and this incredible donation will help to protect him day in and day out,” said Irwin.
