The Northern Maine Development Commission and the U.S. Small Business Administration, along with other entities, will host two forums for local small-business owners in Caribou and Presque Isle, both on Tuesday, June 16.
An Aroostook County Women’s Roundtable will be held from 9-10:30 a.m. at the NMDC office, 11 Back Rd., Caribou. Hosted by NMDC and the SBA, the event is designed for women business owners to discuss barriers they may have for starting or growing their businesses.
Lynn Bromley, New England regional advocate from the SBA, will hear participants’ concerns and relay them to the administration’s advocacy office in Washington, D.C.
The second forum will take place from 4-6:30 p.m. at the University of Maine at Presque Isle, and will offer financing options for Aroostook businesses.
Participants will learn about a wide variety of financing options, including government guarantees, refinancing, revolving lines of credit, microloans and more. On the forum will be representatives from the SBA, NMDC, Maine Centers for Women, Work & Community, the Department of Economic and Community Development, USDA Rural Development and the Central Aroostook Chamber of Commerce.
Registration is required for both sessions. For information call Sandra Fontaine at (207) 622-8381 or email sandra.fontaine@sba.gov.
