PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Track and field supremacy in Aroostook County remains with the Caribou Vikings.
Both the girls’ and boys’ teams from CHS rolled to league titles Friday in a meet held at the Gehrig Johnson Athletic Complex. The squads are the defending champions.
This year, the Caribou girls scored 250 points, with the Wildcats the closest competitor with 118. Fort Fairfield was third with 63, followed by Fort Kent with 55, Houlton with 44, Washburn with 28 and Limestone-MSSM with 17.
The Viking boys also won by a huge margin. They tallied 223 points, far ahead of runner-up Fort Fairfield (88.5), Limestone-MSSM (69), Presque Isle (66.5), Fort Kent (52), Houlton (48) and Washburn (40).
Individually, Presque Isle’s Tori Koch was the top point scorer by winning three events and coming in second in a fourth. She had 38 points to capture the Howard Lello Award, with Caribou’s Eileen Patton second with 32.5. Patton also won three events herself and was part of a victorious relay team. Regan Nelson of PI (28 points) and Nerissa Larrabee of Caribou (26) were third and fourth, respectively.
Caleb Daigle of Fort Fairfield was first in four events to score 40 points and earn the Emery Plourde Award as the top scorer among boys. Caribou’s Dominic Judd was second with 38, followed by Limestone-MSSM’s Grier Osterman with 32 and Fort Kent’s Matt Toussaint with 31.5.

Caribou and Presque Isle will compete in Saturday’s Penobscot Valley Conference championship Saturday at Old Town. The state meets are set for Saturday, June 6. The Class B meet, involving the Vikings and Wildcats, will be in Bath, while the Class C championships, for all the other County teams, are in Yarmouth.
