East Grand School names top students

   DANFORTH, Maine — Principal Dawn Matthew of East Grand School in Danforth has announced the honor parts for the class of 2015.
Chelsea Winiarski has been named valedictorian, while Allison McEwen was selected as salutatorian.

Chelsea Winiarski
Valedictorian

    Winiarski is the daughter of Karen and Kenneth Winiarski II of Forest Township. During her four years at East Grand Chelsea has been an active member in the Student Council and National Honor Society. She was a teacher’s aide for one year, a member of the yearbook staff, volunteered for Community Clean-Up Day and participated in Winter Carnival.
She played four years of soccer, basketball and softball. She was class president her freshman and sophomore years, vice president her junior year and secretary her senior year. She was awarded the Presidential Scholarship and will attend University of Maine at Orono in the fall majoring in business administration.

Allison McEwen
Salutatorian

    McEwen is the daughter of Laura and Bruce McEwen of Danforth. She was a member of Student Council and National Honor Society. During her high school career she served as class secretary her freshman and sophomore years and treasurer her junior year and vice president her senior year. She participated in Winter Carnival and Community Clean-up Day during her four-year career. She played four years of Soccer, Basketball and Softball. Allison was awarded the Presidential Scholarship and will attend the University of Maine of Orono in the fall majoring in biology with a focus on pre-med.
