Caribou High School celebrates Academic Night

    CARIBOU, Maine — Caribou High School’s Annual Academic Awards Night was held on Thursday, May 28. This annual event is organized by the Caribou Chapter of the National Honor Society and is funded by the Caribou School Department.
President of the National Honor Society, Michael Marquis, Vice President, Kristopher Michaud, Executive Committee Member, Morgan Outing, and Maria Espinosa served as chairpersons of the organizing committee.
Caribou High School Principal, Mark Jones complimented the students on their academic achievements and urged them to continue to strive for success.

Jones and Assistant Principal, David Wakana awarded Academic Achievement Certificates, Principal’s Awards and Academic Excellence Pins to students in grades 9, 10, 11 and 12 based on their honor roll attainment for three consecutive ranking periods.
The Academic Disciplines of Caribou High School gave the following awards:
English Language Arts: Grade 9 Nicholas Sleeper and Spencer McDuffie, Grade 10 Julia Page, Grade 11 Michael Hunter and Raylee Shaw, Grade 11 AP Chathu Karunisiri, Grade 12 Kaitlyn Ring and Morgan Outing and the Senior Book Award went to Albany McCabe.
Mathematics: Grade 9 Evan Desmond, Grade 10 Erin Kashian, Grade 11 Chathu Karunasiri and Grade 12 Dylan Damboise.
Habits of Mind Awards: Brittany Dickinson, Megan Ouellette, Morgan Outing, Spencer McDuffie, Michael Hunter, Liam McMillon, Nicholas Sleeper and Adrieanna Damboise.
Social Studies: Grade 9 Liam McMillon, Grade 10 Kaitlyn Nadeau and Grade 11 Benjamin Ezzy.
Daughters of the American Revolution Award for Excellence in History: Richard Schmitt. Hitchings/Novy/Willey Award: Mackeznie Deveau.
Sciences: Stephen Bielinski Memorial Award for the Senior with the Highest Average in Lab Sciences for four years went to Brenden Cyr. CHS Science Dept, Award for Senior Demonstrating the Most Outstanding Personal Achievement went to Drew Lajoie, and the Bausch and Lomb Science Award went to Donovan Savage.

World Languages: Meilleur Eleve en Francis: Chelsea Chapman. Apreciation Superieure en Langues: Benjamin Lewis and Susan Lewis. Por la Excelencia en Espanol: Mackenzie Conroy and Albany McCabe. Apreciacion Superior de idomas: Richard Schmitt.
Theatre Awards: Introduction to Theatre: Emma Theriault. Best Actress: Albany McCabe, and Best Actor: Kristopher Michaud.
Physical Educational and Wellness Award: Health: Donovan Savage, Physical Education: Evan Desmond.
Book Awards were presented by the Guidance Department: Springfield College: Lukas Lagasse.
Individual awards were given to members of the Mathematics Team by their Coach Vanda Madore: Emma Belyea, Conner Spencer, Jordan Bevins, Chelsea Chapman, Caleb Hunter, Kelsey Kiehn, Donovan Savage, Megan Theriault, Dylan Damboise, Mackenzie Deveau, Brianna Judd, Corlyn Cavender, Elyse Kiehn, Nicole McHattie and Matthew Theriault.
Individual awards were given to members of the Chess Team by their Coach Stephen Burden: Nathaniel Adams, Sarah Draper, Caleb Hunter, David Hunter, Nerissa Larrabee, Robyn Larrabee and Richard Perry.
Transition Center Awards: Most Improved Student was Spencer McDuffie and the T.C. Spirit Award went to Chathu Karunasiri.
Honors clothing were presented to the members of the Class of 2015 who have obtained a GPA of 85 or better. Superintendent of School, Susan White delivered remarks, which saluted the academic achievements of the honor roll and the graduating seniors. White was assisted by Assistant Superintendent Lois Brewer in distributed the clothing to the graduating seniors.
The ceremony was followed by an ice-cream social served by members of the Caribou High School faculty.
