CARIBOU, Maine — The Caribou VFW recently held a dinner for over 60 people on May 15 to honor the surviving members of World War II.
Post and community members came together to honor them and share a meal with the members. This year marks the 70-year anniversary of the end of WWII and the post members decided to honor WW II vets with a special dinner.
“The May 15 dinner is the only the beginning,” Roger Felix, Incoming Commander Caribou VFW, said. “Future plans include celebrations followed by a large dinner and recognition ceremony to be held in Sept. to formally announce the 70-year anniversary of the end of WW II.”
During the dinner ceremony local WWII heroes were given a standing round of applause for their service in making America free and out of the hands of tyranny.
Special thanks also went to the culinary students of the Loring Job Corps who assisted Post members in serving the great dinner.
