HOULTON, Maine – Howard Ensworth Stacey, Sr., age 90, died in Houlton on Sunday, May 31, 2015, at Madigan Estates. He was the son of Hubbard and Bessie (Arthur) Stacey, a family tracing its lineage back to the 1630s in the Mass. Bay Colony. Born on July 17, 1924, in East Boston, Mass., he lived most of his life there.
He was a W.W. II Army veteran and a Boston bus driver for the M.T.A. He also worked for years as the door greeter at the Houlton Wal-Mart store.
He is survived by his son, Howard, and daughter-in-law, Nancy; grandchildren, Sean, Seth and Megan; and great-grandchildren, Kayla, Sabastian, Kenningston, Wyatt and Camille.
The son of a Mason, Howard cherished his 57 year career in the Freemasons. He joined Hesperia Lodge in East Boston, Mass. in 1957. After moving to Houlton, he affiliated with Monument Lodge in 2002. He was presented the Grand Lodge of Maine Service Medal in 2007.
Friends may call at the Lodge Hall, 20 Market Square, Friday, June 5, 2015, at 10 a.m. until the time of the Masonic service remembering Howard’s life at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Hawaii.
