The 93rd annual Eastern Maine Bowling Tournament was held in Calais March 25-28 and Presque Isle teams had a strong showing.
The Presque Isle Elks I team went 31-5 and won the event. Their averages were: Michael Lee, 116.19; Derek Ouelette, 108.26; Rick Curtis, 110.78; Dave Donahue, 108.48; and Larry Puclifur, 113.11. The team’s scorekeeper was Leonard Curtis.
Trinity Lodge held a 30-6 record. Their team was made up of Michael Gardiner, 112.81; Steve Spooner, 113.15; Matt Simonds, 109.67; Terry Grant, 111.59; and Tom Pelkey, 124.15. Kevin Wilson was the scorekeeper.
PI Elks II came in at 23-13. Team members were Woody Shaw, 111.41; Chad Lavway, 112.93; Craig Nickerson, 110.70; Randy Hitchcock, 113.19; and Moe Collins, 106.26. Alan O’Neal served as the scorekeeper.
Also competing in the tourney were host Calais, along with Woodland and the Odd Fellows from Houlton.
The tourney all-star team included Pelkey, Lee and Hitchcock.
The individual high single belonged to Pelkey with a 168. Trinity Lodge had the high team single (643) and the team triple (1,807).
