Second-graders read to seniors

Easton Senior Citizens were invited by the second-grade class at Easton Elementary School for a read aloud presentation.
Grade two students did a fantastic job reading “And Here’s To You!” by David Elliot and “I Can Be Anything!” By Jerry Spinelli, accompanied by a song “All God’s Creatures Have A Place in the Choir.”
Thank you to all the guests who attended, included Irene Whittaker, Theresa Lloyd, Marilyn Lawrence, Charlene Lento, Alta Rattray, Eddie Rattray, Gail Cote, Louis Allen, Jackie Condon, Marie Hewitt, Nina Trask, Ezalee Smith, Betsy York and special guest Lilly Brewer.

Paul Bonner is a sixth-grader and the son of John and Theresa Bonner. Paul is a kind, thoughtful and generous young man. He is a good citizen and friend and can always be counted on to do the right thing in a polite and respectful manner. He always gives his best effort and is a wonderful example to his peers.
Rylee Leavitt is a third-grader and the daughter of Eric and Nicole Cassidy. Rylee is a hard-working, kind and gentle young lady. She does her very best every day and does so with a smile on her face. She is a good friend and wonderful citizen and looks for opportunities to help others.
Olivia Keep is also a third-grader and the daughter of Andy and Renee Keep. Olivia is kind, helpful, thoughtful and hard working. She gives her best effort in all she does and exhibits all the wonderful qualities of a great friend and citizen.
Volunteers needed at Food Pantry
The Friends Helping Friends Food Pantry is looking for a couple volunteers who would be willing to deliver food boxes to needy families in Easton every other month. Each month two vehicles are needed for about an hour on the third Sunday afternoon from 2:30-3:30 p.m. Each vehicle delivers food to two or three families. If you are able to volunteer, please call Vaughn Martin at 488-6608 or email vaughnmartin@myfairpoint.net.
Sesquicentennial Items for Sale
The committee is currently selling the following items to commemorate Easton’s year-long 150th celebration, including 20-ounce glasses with Bears and Sesquicentennial logos for $8, glass coffee mugs with Bears and Sesquicentennial logos, royal blue T-shirts with sesquicentennial logos for $8, royal blue hoodie sweatshirts with sesquicentennial logos for $25 and two-tone caps or standard caps with Easton Bears logos or Sesquicentennial logos for $10. 2015 All School Reunion scheduled for Friday, July 10
There will be a social time at Easton High School from 2-4 p.m. Come and enjoy time exploring the building and visiting with old friends from near and far. Refreshments will be served.
The All School Reunion dinner will take place at Easton Elementary School at 6 p.m. with great food, friends and entertainment. There will also be many door prizes with local flair!
Easton PTO update
The Easton Elementary School PTO is still collecting BoxTops for Education, so keep clipping!
Kiwanis Meetings
Kiwanis Club of Easton meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month from 6-7 p.m. at the Odd Fellows Hall and everyone is welcome to attend. Dinner is provided for a small fee.
Rec calendar
Wednesday, June 17: Father’s Day Projects afterschool until 4:15 p.m. at the Hall. Major League baseball is at Washburn at 5:30 p.m.
Thursday, June 18: Senior/Adult trip to the Goat Farm in Houlton. The bus departs from the Manor at 10 a.m. Participants are responsible for their own meal. General swim is held at Gentile Hall. The bus departs at 2:45 p.m. and returns at 4:30 p.m. The cost is $5. Minor League practice is from 5:30-6:45 p.m. on the baseball field near tennis courts.
Friday, June 19: Senior program at the Manor starting at 11:15 a.m. The topic is Anion emitters. Lunch will be served and program will begin at noon.
Monday, June 22: Art Camp at the Hall from 10 a.m.-noon. Pre-registration is required. Weight Watchers class is at at 5:30 p.m. at the elementary school.Major game @ Mars Hill at 5:30
Tuesday, June 23: Northern Maine Community Recreation Association track meet at 10 a.m. at Presque Isle Middle School. Softball games are at 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. at school ball field.
Wednesday, June 24: Field Trip to Kingswood Entertainment from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. The cost is $20. Major League game at Fort Fairfield against the Yankees at 5:30 p.m.
