HOULTON – Mildred Cassidy Duff (Millie), 83, went to be with her husband, Carl, on June 14, 2015, at Madigan Estates surrounded by her family. She was born February 20, 1932, in Fort Fairfield, the daughter of John J. and Madeline R. (Kennedy) Cassidy.
Mildred met and married Carl Duff, and they would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary July 6, 2015. Millie raised six children while actively involved in the community. She was a Cub Scout den mother and was a member of the Houlton Regional Hospital Auxiliary. Mildred was also the treasurer for the Houlton Little League while Carl served as its President. She served as treasurer for the Longfellow School PTA and often chaperoned 7th and 8th grade band trips. She was a neighborhood volunteer for the March of Dimes. Mildred served as the bookkeeper for Duff’s Service Station and also tended to other office duties of the business.
Mildred is survived by five sons, James H. Duff and his wife, Eloise, of Loxley, Alabama, Dana E. Duff of Houlton, Thomas A. Duff and his wife, Nancy, of Houlton, Dale A. Duff and his wife, Nora, of Bangor and Peter A. Duff and his wife, Angela, of New Limerick; and her daughter, Carla A. Duff and special friend, Laurel Farrell, of Houlton; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandson; her brother-in-law, Gerald L. Duff and his wife, Elaine, of Bangor; her sisters-in-law, Audrey M. Anderson and her husband, Donald, of South Portland, Gail Duff of East Hodgdon; as well as her sister, Sharon, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Carl Duff; her sister, Lois Bulley; and her brother-in-law, Richard Bulley.
Friends may call at the Dunn Funeral Home on Thursday, June 18, from 12 noon until the time of the service at 1 p.m. with Rev. Randall Burns officiating. Interment will be in the East Hodgdon Cemetery.
