Library news

The Walter T. A. Hansen Memorial Library will hold its Tag Sale fundraiser at Grew’s on Main Street on Friday and Saturday, July 17 and 18 and July 24 and 25 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
It will also be open during this year’s Homecoming. Hours will be Friday, Aug. 7 from 2-6 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 8 from 8 a.m.-noon.
Anyone with items they would like to donate for the sale is asked to contact any trustee  — Ryan Shaw, Jill Lunney, Julie Bradstreet or Tomi Henderson  — or by calling the library at 429-9625.
A big thank you goes to all who help with this annual fundraiser, which helps purchase items for the library’s collection.

Rotary Club

The Mars Hill Rotary Club met on Tuesday, June 16 at 6:30 a.m. at the Aroostook Health Center.
The speaker was Rick Duncan of the House of Comfort. He informed those attending that since the initial planning for a hospice house in northern Maine began six years ago, there have been many changes. With two possible sites not working out, there are now plans for using the MBNA building in Presque Isle.
The Visiting Nurses of Aroostook/Eastern Maine Homecare will be providing the workers for the house. They will also be renting part of the building for their offices, thus helping pay on the mortgage costs. Construction and renovations should begin this year, with plans to open next summer.
