Washburn’s Class of 2015 holds commencement

The Washburn Class of 2015 celebrated their high school graduation on Friday, June 12, 2015 in the Washburn District High School gymnasium amongst their family, friends and teachers.

The graduates were welcomed by their class president, Kaylee Doody, and class vice-president, Taylor Skinner.
This year’s valedictorian address was given by Mackenzie Worcester and the salutatory address was given by Brittany Hernandez, who also performed a self-choreographed dance.
After many scholarships and academic awards were given out, a recognition of the support, love and dedication of the class parents was made by Kaylee Doody.
Diplomas were presented to each of the students by Washburn Superintendent of Schools Ed Buckley and Washburn High School Principal Ron Ericson.
The end of this school year is also the last for Superintendent Buckley, who is retiring. Maine Representatives Dustin White and Peter Edgecomb were on hand to help recognize Buckley for his 55 years of service in education.
