Zippel Elementary School fifth-graders honored

    PRESQUE ISLE, Maine Principal Christopher Hallett has announced the recipients of the Citizenship and Presidential awards at Zippel Elementary school. Qualifying students were recognized during an end-of-school-year assembly at the school on June 15, 2015.
Citizenship Awards

     Two students from each fifth-grade classroom were chosen by their peers and teachers. “In school we help students grow socially and emotionally and encourage ways for them to serve their school.  Through citizenship education we instill in our students the knowledge and skills to foster strong leadership, character and service,” said Hallett.
Receiving Citizenship Awards were: Mackenna Berube, Abigayle Williams, Ben Flannery, Grace Sherman, Ben Duprey, Hannah Graves, Brenna Morneau, McKenzie Stambaugh, Paige Billings and Sophie Lee.
Presidential Awards
The most prestigious award given at Zippel to fifth-graders, the Presidential Award is earned by students for the most highest academic excellence and performance.  Students must earn a grade point average of 90 or higher on a 100 point scale over their fourth- and fifth- grade career as well as have no grades of C or lower, according to Hallett.
Presidential Award recipients include: Caleb Levesque, Emily Bemis, Quinn Demerchant, Hannah Graves, Danica Haskell, Aleem Khan, Jonah Roy, Matthew Hedrich, Jackson Maynard and Naomi Wood.
The fifth-grade teachers at Zippel are Jennifer York, Robin Norsworthy, Alice Molloy, Melissa Buck and June Bagley.
