Affordable autos — An economic revolution seems to be starting in the automobile industry and an era of price-cutting has developed. The Willys-Overland cut its price 30 percent or from $1,075 to $750. The Buick Company cut its prices 25 percent or from $1,285 to $985.
Motorcycle racing: Houlton premiere — The first motorcycle race ever held in Aroostook will take place in Houlton on July third during the afternoon races.

Wanted: fearless girl — One brave woman with nerves of steel and the fearless courage of a heroine will be $5.00 richer and experience the most thrilling adventures of a lifetime when she sits alone at midnight Monday in the darkened Temple Theatre after viewing the terrifying double feature “The Human Monster” and “The Phantom Strikes.”
Airport expansion — Work was begun yesterday morning on a WPA project involving the expenditure of $58,000 at the Houlton airport. The project was approved last week by President Roosevelt. It will enlarge and complete the present north-south runway.

Garden Club’s 25th exhibit — The Houlton Garden Club will see its 25th annual flower show at the Northland Hotel Tuesday with a silver year theme of “Garden of Memories.” Special exhibits will include a lobby arrangement by Houlton’s professional local florists, a display by Dr. C. Worth Howard and a ceramics display by Mrs. Phillip Daigle.

ONE-ACT PLAY CAST — An original one-act play, “Over The Goose’s Nest”, written by HHS English teacher Marilyn Sprague, will be presented at the junior high auditorium. Cast members include, from left, Ronald Murray, Jane Fitzpatrick, Robert Rutledge and Linda Faulkner.
Junior high honor students — Receiving high honors for the Houlton Junior High School in grade eight were: Kevin Albert, Christopher Bean, Robin Crandall, Edward Chaisson, Jill Longstaff and Keaton Putnam.

Demolition Derby: new to fair — A new event for the Houlton Agricultural Fair this year is a demolition derby to be held Tuesday at 6 p.m. with the first 50 cars in the running for a purse totaling $800. Drivers must be 18 years of age and any American-made stock hardtop automobile or station wagon is allowed to enter.
Abouleish joins practice — Dr. Hassan Abouleish, an internist, is joining the practice of Dr. Ted Sussman and will serve as Houlton Regional Hospital’s director of respiratory therapy. He received his medical degree from the University of Texas and is completing his residency in North Carolina.
