PRESQUE ISLE – Adeline M. Simpson, 82, a devoted mother and grandmother, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2015, at Houlton Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 1, 1932, in Caribou, the daughter of Leo and Anna (Nadeau) Michaud.
She co-owned and operated Simpson’s Restaurants with her husband, Hubert, for more than three decades in Presque Isle.
Adeline was a very generous person, a hard worker, and was considered by many as the best cook in the state. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Adeline grew up in Caribou, until she met and married the love of her life, Hubert W. Simpson in 1950. Together they moved to Bristol, CT, where they both worked. She would never let anyone go hungry; often sending a hot meal to someone she was told needed a meal. She loved to entertain and was a wonderful hostess at many occasions. She was well known for her homemade from scratch Pizzas, as well as many more signature dishes. She was the founder of the first local restaurant association in Presque Isle. She helped a lot of young people by teaching them cooking skills and life skills.
