PLANT CITY, FL & PRESQUE ISLE, ME – Patricia Elizabeth (Beckstrom) Gallagher, 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 11, 2015, at South Florida Baptist Hospital in Plant City. She was born September 9, 1928, to Carl and Doris (Horsman) Beckstrom in Presque Isle and was the loving and devoted wife of Harold D. (Biggy) Gallagher for 67 years.
Patricia grew up in Presque Isle where she attended Presque Isle High School, graduating in 1946. Shortly after graduation, she began working at New England Tel & Tel, and on September 8, 1947, Pat was married to her husband, Biggy. She continued working at the telephone company for 19 years, taking some time off to raise their three children. Following her time at New England Tel & Tel, she worked at Burrelle’s Clipping Service for 10 years. In 1991, Pat and Biggy retired to Florida.
Pat was a member of the American Legion Auxillary Post 88. One of her favorite pastimes was clipping coupons to share with her family. She and Biggy also enjoyed dancing, shuffleboard and playing cards with friends. Patricia cherished her family and many of her most enjoyable times were spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was always doing things for others and putting her friends and family before herself.
In addition to her loving husband and best friend, Patricia leaves behind her daughter, Cathy (Gallagher) Allen of Presque Isle, her son, Brian Gallagher and his wife, Linda of Turner, ME, and her daughter, Lori (Gallagher) Kenneson of Presque Isle. She is also survived by a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren: granddaughter, Lindsay Allen and her children, Nathaniel, Noah, Claire and Caleb of Monument, CO; grandson, Derrick Allen, his wife, Amy and their children, Maggie and Finnegan of Hampden, ME; granddaughter, Kerri (Gallagher) Dean, her husband, Jason and their children, Grace, Olivia and Kadyn of Pembroke, NH; grandson, Michael Gallagher, his wife, Melissa and their daughter, Laney of Mapleton, ME; granddaughter, Kristina (Kenneson) Braley, her husband, Isaac and their children, Emily and Lydia of Chapman, ME; grandson, Adam Kenneson and his wife, Katherine of Fort Kent, ME; and cousin and lifelong friend, Gloria (Horsman) Cale of Cape Canaveral, FL.
Patricia was predeceased by her mother and father, along with her great-grandson, Oliver Braley.
A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held in honour of Pat in Presque Isle, ME. Details will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Patricia to Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104.
