WOODLAND, Maine — A Woodland man was charged with multiple crimes late Thursday evening after he allegedly assaulted a woman and broke her phone during the altercation.
Sheriff Darrell Crandall of the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Department said in a written statement Friday evening that the office received an emergency 9-1-1 call from a woman reporting what appeared to be a domestic violence incident occurring on the Brown Road in Woodland.
Deputies responded and, after conducting an investigation, suspected 34-year-old Ryan Everett of Woodland assaulted the woman at a location there and during the process had smashed her phone. The woman was brought by Caribou Ambulance to the Cary Medical Center in Caribou, according to Crandall, where she was treated for injuries suffered during the assault.
Everett was arrested and charged with domestic violence assault, obstructing the report of a crime and operating under the influence of alcohol. He was taken to the Caribou Police Department, where he was processed and later released on $250 cash bail, according to the sheriff.
Everett’s initial court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 6 in Caribou District Court. No further information was released.
