Graham, Paterson named top senior athletes
PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The Presque Isle High School spring athletic awards night was held June 8, 2015, with members of the JV and varsity softball teams, JV and varsity baseball teams, varsity tennis teams and varsity track and field teams recognized for their participation during the recently-completed sports season.
The outstanding senior athlete awards were presented at the June 11 Class Day. Members of the senior class, as well as coaches and administrators, collaborate to select the award. This year’s recipients are Hannah Graham and Andrew Paterson. Graham was a standout in soccer and basketball, while Paterson was a three-sport starter in soccer, basketball and baseball.
At the awards night, JV softball coach Mike Patenaude and assistant coach Katie Patenaude presented certificates to freshmen Breanna Byrd, Libbie Currie, Alyssa Dennett, Chloe Hammond, Mackayla LaPlante, Hailey St. Thomas, Aza Villatora and manager Megan Butler; sophomores Faith Leavitt, Amy Seeley, Abby Shaw, Madison Walton and manager Macy Pyres; and juniors Alyssa Hewitt, Natanya Pictou and Shelby Shaw.
JV baseball coaches Derrick Kinney and Curt Paterson presented certificates to freshmen RJ Gross, Chandler Paradis and Adam Paterson; sophomores Nick Bartlett, Grant Bridges, Brad Kinney, Jake Kinney and Brad McMann; and juniors Sam Gray, Cooper Madore, Caleb Nadeau and Kyle Rider.
Girls varsity tennis coach Monica Bearden handed out a first-year letter to freshman Miranda Bragan, a second-year letter to sophomore Sarah Morneault, a third-year letter to junior Michelle Cawley and a fourth-year letter to senior Hilary Boucher.
Boys varsity tennis coach Brian Massey gave certificates to freshmen Gage Young and Austin Moreau and junior Tyler Ayotte; first-year letters to freshmen Colin Daigle and Isaac Madore and sophomore Alex Brewer; second-year letters to sophomore Denny Young and senior Chase Norton; a third-year letter to junior Byron Winslow; and a fourth-year letter to senior Chris Carroll.
Varsity softball coach Terry Cummings and his assistant, Daren Hunter, presented certificates to freshmen managers Kiara Lyford and Kayla Saucier and sophomore players Faith Leavitt and Amy Seeley; first-year letters to sophomore Casey Lovely and seniors Jessica Cameron and Megan McKnight; third-year letters to juniors Hailey Cameron and Jillian Flynn and seniors Eric Ackerson and Macy Desmond; and fourth-year letters to seniors Kelsey Gilson, Jordi Legassie and Megan Seward.
Girls varsity track and field coach Ron McAtee and his assistant, Mike Waugh, presented certificates to freshmen Elizabeth Deschenes and Ande Kornachuk; sophomores Emma Beaulieu, Skyler McAtee, Cali Quirion and manager Emily Sjoberg; and junior managers Alisa Brewer and Kerrigan LeBlanc. First-year letters went to freshmen Elizabeth Findlen, Isabelle Jackson and Maddie Wing; sophomore Tori Koch; and seniors Amanda Palmer and Brynn Staples; second-year letters to sophomores Grace Player and Skylar Vogel and junior Madison Postell; and third-year letters to juniors Emily Colligan, Mandy Graham, Karen Jones, Regan Nelson and Alyssa Sweeney.
Boys varsity track and field coach Lori Googins and her assistant, Jason Johnson, honored the following certificate recipients: freshmen Cameron Lahey and Austin Robichaud, sophomores Eriq Gonzalez, Andrew Kirk and Colby Ouellette; and juniors Trevor MacDougal and Taylor Michaud. Earning first-year letters were freshman Dustin Alward, sophomore Chan Villatora and seniors Brian Fournier, Mitchell Kelley and Wesley Thibault. Second-year letters went to sophomores Gavin Kelley and Khasen Lowe and junior Zachary Rice; third-year letters to juniors Parker Lambert and Connor Murchison and fourth-year letters to seniors Austin Albert, James Churchill and Keeghan Lowe.

Buckley was selected as the winner of the Aaron Archer Award in baseball.
Sweatshirt recipients, who accumulated six varsity letters in any combination of sports, were Erin Ackerson (in soccer, basketball and softball), Austin Albert (cross country and track and field), Hilary Boucher (cross country and tennis), James Churchill (cross country and track and field), Macy Desmond (soccer and softball), Cooper Madore (soccer, hockey and baseball) and Andrew Paterson (soccer, basketball and baseball).
Earning jackets for lettering in one sport for four years were Austin Albert (track and field), Hilary Boucher (tennis), Chris Carroll (tennis), James Churchill (track and field), Kelsey Gilson (softball), Keeghan Lowe (track and field) and Megan Seward (softball). Another fourth-year letter winner who received her jacket for participation in a previous sport was Jordi Legassie (softball).
