Maine makes list of best ATV trails in the country

Maine has made a national list that ATVers in Aroostook County have been aware of for years — the state has some of the best ATV trails in the country.

The Pine Tree State was listed among the Top 10 ATV Trails in America, according to data posted on www.atvrider.com.
“With nearly 3.8 million square miles, the United States features one of the most varied types of climate, geography and terrain of any spot on Earth. For those looking to take a riding vacation, or those just hoping to check some ride location off their bucket list, we’ve compiled a list of our favorite places to let the dirt fly … There’s no better time than now to start planning your next adventure,” notes an article on the website.
The article goes on to explain what makes Maine so appealing to ATVers.
“Maine is an ATV.UTV lover’s dream. With approximately 6,000 miles of trails currently available to legally ride, and smaller individual loops consistently being added and connected, Maine is a serious off-road destination. With much of the forest land owned by massive timber companies, the state of Maine itself, and countless private individual landowners, nearly 200 ATV clubs have worked in cooperation with state agencies to manage trail maintenance, create the ever-developing trail system and work with individual landowners.”
Also making the list were: Hatfield McCoy Trail System, West Virginia; Brimstone Recreation Area, Tennessee; Paiute Trail System, Utah; Moab, Utah; Mesquite, Nevada to Bar 10 Ranch; Anthracite Outdoor Adventure Area, Pennsylvania; Imperial Sand Dunes/Glamis, California; Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area, Oregon; and Kipu Ranch Kauai, Hawaii.
