HOULTON — The Southern Aroostook Cultural Arts Project/Visions/Blue Moon Gallery will host a book signing with Hodgdon author Lee-Rae Jordan-Oliver on Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the gallery located on 66 Main St.
At a time when dairy farms were shutting down at a rapid rate throughout Maine, former educators Lee-Rae and her husband, Matthew, attempted the seemingly impossible and built their own dairy farm from scratch. Lee-Rae lives on that farm with her husband and three children, and when she’s not milking cows, tending to calves, or sawing wood…she’s running, hiking or snowshoeing. In this memoir, she craftily weaves humor throughout the harrowing and heartwarming true stories, showing the everyday challenges a dairy farmer must overcome to survive.
Her book is a collection of stories that were featured in The Houlton Pioneer Times in recent years. Copies of her book will be available for purchase on that evening. The book will also be sold locally at Aroostook Milling in Houlton and Presque Isle, R.C. Logging and Supplies in Smyrna, Andy’s IGA, County Yankee, the County Co-Op and Farm Store and Hairworks Studio. The book may also be ordered online at www.maineauthorspublishing.com.
Oliver is also donating a copy of her book to the Cary Memorial Library.
