HOULTON — The Maine Water Utility Association lauded The Houlton Water Company June 11 by presenting the prestigious Excellence in Operations award during a special ceremony at the Houlton Lodge of Elks.
The award recognizes outstanding performance where a team effort has coordinated to excellence in the following areas:
– Consistent public health and environmental compliance.
– Maintenance of system infrastructure and equipment.
– Continuous water quality improvement.
– Training and education of utility employees.
– Public education and outreach.
– Research to improve the quality of drinking water.
“The Excellence in Operations award is an honor to the HWC water department ably supervised by Brian McGuire and assisted by Kenneth Gonya, Thomas Rouse and Matthew Lincoln,” said John Clark, HWC general manager. “In addition, all HWC personnel from all the departments have contributed to the achievement of this Excellence award.”
The MWUA is a non-profit membership organization established in 1925 to represent the water utility membership in the legislature, policy proceedings, regulatory environment and networking. In addition, the MWUA provides training to all of its member systems. Houlton Water Company has been a member of the MWUA since its creation.
