RSU 50 school board is looking into cooperative varsity hockey with the Houlton-Hodgdon Black Hawks.
Both RSU 29 and RSU 70 boards have agreed to allow SACS and Katahdin students to participate in the program. The cost to RSU 50 is determined by the number of players participating per year.
“This number will fluctuate depending on the revenue gained and the expenses of running the program,” said RSU 50 Principal and Athletic Director Jon Porter.
It is anticipated that one student from RSU 50 will be playing hockey this season, with two more for the 2016-17 school year.
The application has been filed with the Maine Principals Association’s office in Augusta.
