PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The Presque Isle Middle School promotional ceremony was held June 15 with a special program and awards, followed by the presentation of promotional certificates to 149 eighth-graders as they officially became rising freshmen of Presque Isle High School.
Class marshalls Trace Cyr and Savannah Rodriguez led the processional. Rebecca Collins then recited the Pledge of Allegiance, and Jaidyn Blake sang the national anthem. Eleanor St. Peter delivered the welcome speech, with remarks by Julie Gardner, eighth-grade teacher.
Principal Anne Blanchard and Assistant Principal Barbara Bartlett then presented various awards.
Perfect attendance recognition went to Shane Baker, Tom Gorneault, Shelby Johnson, McKenna LaFave and Abbigayle Quirino.
High honors certificates went to Sarah Beaulieu, Grace Bemis, Emma Bouchard, Sheridan Boucher, Mark Bryda, Elizabeth Collins, Rebecca Collins, Trace Cyr, Jason Dumais, Sydney Durepo, Miranda Drost, Lucas Eastman, Briana Gilson, Julia Good, Jonah Hudson, Acacia Johnston, Molly Kingsbury, Emma Kohlbacher, Torey Levesque, Madison Michaud, Lydia Miller, Garrett Morneault, Abbigayle Quirino, Shelby Richardson, Savannah Rodriquez, Eleanor St. Peter, Jacob Sjoberg, Belle Thibault and Alexandra Walsh.

Recipients of the NWEA Math Progress Award were David Amero, Josiah Ames, Trinity Anthony, Shane Baker, Sierra Blade, Mason Bushey, Riley Caron, Deklan Curtis, Andre Daigle, Casey Estabrook, Wynonna Estabrook, Lily Fearon, Kamryn Gilmour, Julia Good, Samuel Holmes, Ethan Jackson, Sydney Kinney, Brandon McKnight, Owen McQuarrie, Chase Pyres, Chase Quirion, Carley Robbins, and Mikey York Jr.
The Citizenship Award was given to Kaci Bates. The recipient of the Turn Around Award was Chase Pyres.
Additional remarks were given by class president Sheridan Boucher and Principal Blanchard, with a congratulatory welcome to the upcoming freshmen of Presque Isle High School by PIHS Principal Ben Greenlaw.
Promotion certificates were handed out by grade 8 faculty members Lisa Dow, Mary Graham, Julie Gardner, William Guerrette, Lisa Gordon and Tim Olore.
