The National Future Farmers of America Organization recently awarded two local seniors with $1,000 scholarships.
Recipients of the Tractor Supply — Growing Scholars Scholarships are Tyler Raymond of Caribou and Whitnie Bradbury of Mars Hill.
This scholarship is one of 2,156 awarded through the National FFA Organization scholarship program this year. The 2015 recipients were selected from 7,171 applicants from across the country. Selections were based on the applicant’s leadership, academic record, FFA and other school and community activities, supervised agricultural or work experience in agricultural education and future goals.
Raymond, who has been a member of Caribou High School’s FFA chapter, plans to use the funds to pursue a degree at the University of Maine at Fort Kent.
Bradbury, who has been an FFA member at Central Aroostook High School, will use her scholarship to attend Husson College in the fall.
For 31 years, scholarships have been made available through funding secured by the National FFA Foundation from individuals, businesses and corporate sponsors to help students pursue their educational goals.
