To the editor:
Now that three extremely suspect women and two of the five men on the Supreme Court all voted for granting special privileges to people based on their lifestyle, it may be time for all of us who claim the name of Christ to reassess a little. Does Romans 13 really command us to obey this … the open and blatant rejection of Christianity and millenia-long Christian teaching in the name of “fairness” and “diversity?”
In case you aren’t familiar with the principle to which I refer, the passage says: “Render unto Caesar, those things which are Caesar’s.” It does not say, “Render unto Caesar everything, including your obedience to Biblical teaching, your conscience, and even the safety of your children.” To watch most Christians’ “actions” (or “inactions,” to be more accurate) you would think that the latter is the interpretation they are getting from their 501 c.3 government-condoned churches.
How much more are we going to stand for, fellow Christian citizens? How many more times are we going to back up and draw a new line in the sand? The cliff is now right behind us, folks. There is no more room to back up. We have accepted that Christians must be “kind” and coddle sin, no matter how egregious, and we are paying for it big time. It is not kind to allow people to continue on their sinful way to eternal damnation, and that is what we’ve been doing.
The principle is not one of fairness. Homosexuals already had the right to have a religious ceremony and call themselves “married.” What they have sought, and have now been granted (wait and see) is the right to compel your acceptance of their lifestyle. If you do not condone their behavior, and if you follow Christ and the Scriptures, you are about to be labeled as a “hater” without the right to your beliefs. Bakers, wedding planners, flower arrangers, priests and pastors, and church organists are going to be soon forced to perform for these same-sex marriages on pain of criminal penalties. It’s already happening, and now will accelerate.
Where is the fairness and celebration of “diverse” beliefs from their side? Huh?
The Supreme Court just set the precedent that they alone can make law which overrides the states. Fourteen states still banned same-sex marriage at the time of the Supreme Court vote. Now, five liberal judges have deemed to over-rule the rights of millions and millions in the super majority of decent people who still respect God and God’s laws.
We’ve got to stand together on this one folks. Yes, 70 percent of Aroostook County voters had to kowtow to the Portland liberals in allowing this dubious behavior in Maine, but that was Maine deciding for Maine (if you believe the electronic voting machines.) Now, we have allowed five liberal individuals to decide for all the states that the Constitution grants special rights for people because of their behaviors.
The 10th amendment has not been repealed and we need to enforce it as Texas, Mississippi and Louisiana already have done by stating they will nullify this latest travesty by refusing to issue “marriage” licenses to these people.
If you do nothing about this stuff, if you stand by and allow the homosexuals in high places to dictate to you and to your church, you are going to pay a very heavy price, unless you forsake Christ … and I would definitely not recommend that.
